Campbelltown community groups to organise Losar event for the first time

Campbelltown, NSW — The Macarthur Deversity Services (MDS) and the Settlement Service International will jointly hold a Tibetan New Year event at the Queen Street in Campbelltown, NSW.

It is the first time for the MDS and SSI to organise Losar event in the Campbelltown City.

Wearing traditional costumes, over 40 Tibetans living in Campbelltown gathered at koshigaya park where they celebrated their New Year (LOSAR) last week. They have also shared their traditional food on the same day. Semilar events were held in different places across Australia such as Sydney, Malbume,

Historically, Tibetans follow a lunar calendar, so the date of Losar changes from year to year. Tibetans across the world held this year's Losar on February 5, 2019. It is the most widely celebrated of all Tibetan festivals and represents a time for all things to be purified and renewed.
