Campbelltown, NSW — Tibetan New Year (Losar) was celebrated in Campbelltown of New South Wales for the first time. Losar I s one of the most significant festive season yet an auspicious occasion marked by Tibetans all over the world.
The event was jointly organised by the Macarthur Deversity Services (MDS) and local Settlement Service International (SSI) and attended by around many Tibetans living in the suburb, on February 15, 2019.
Wearing their traditional costumes, nearly 30 Tibetans living in Campbelltown gathered at the Macarthur Deversity Services situated in Queen Street where Tibetans shared colourful cultural displaying and traditional food with the organisers. They also talked about the Tibetan New Year (LOSAR) started from last week.
There are about 20 families with 50 Tibetans are currently living in the Campbelltown areas and the population is still growing since 2017. Similar events were held in different places across Australia such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra.
